Welcome to Borders and Decks, where I provide professional decking and fencing services for homeowners across Godalming, Guildford, Cranleigh, and the surrounding areas.

I offer traditional timber decking alongside premium composite decking boards, giving you a choice of finishes and maintenance requirements to suit your garden, lifestyle and budget.
As a local contractor, I believe in doing things properly. From our first conversation through to the completed project, you’ll deal directly with me, Robert, ensuring clear communication, practical advice and a personal approach throughout.
Every installation is completed using carefully selected materials and close attention to detail, giving you an outdoor space that is built to last and something you can be proud of for years to come.
Your garden should be an extension of your home—a place where you can relax, entertain family and friends or simply enjoy spending time outdoors.
That’s why I take the time to understand exactly what you’re looking to achieve before recommending the right solution for your property.
Whether you’re replacing tired fencing, repairing damaged fence posts or installing brand-new timber or composite decking, every project is completed to a high standard with durability, appearance and practicality in mind.
I work with homeowners throughout Surrey and the surrounding areas, providing dependable services backed by quality craftsmanship and a genuine commitment to customer satisfaction.
A well-designed deck can completely transform the way you use your garden.
I install attractive timber and composite decking that is designed around your available space, creating practical outdoor areas that are perfect for relaxing, entertaining or dining outside.
Traditional timber decking provides a natural appearance that works beautifully within gardens and established landscaping. Composite decking offers a premium alternative for homeowners who prefer a consistent finish with less ongoing maintenance.
Whether you’re looking for a simple seating area, a larger raised deck or a modern entertainment space, I’ll help you choose a suitable design and material before delivering a finish that is both functional and visually appealing.
My decking services include:
Both timber and composite decking can create a fantastic outdoor space, but they offer different benefits.
Timber decking provides natural character and can be treated or stained in a range of finishes. It is often the more affordable option initially, although it will require periodic care to help maintain its condition and appearance.
Composite decking is a premium, lower-maintenance alternative. It does not normally require routine sanding, staining or painting, and quality composite boards are designed to resist common problems such as rot, splintering, warping and fading.
Composite decking can be particularly suitable for busy households, family gardens and homeowners who want a smart, modern finish without the same level of ongoing upkeep.
I’ll explain the available options honestly and help you choose a decking material that works for your preferred appearance, budget and long-term maintenance expectations.
Strong, professionally installed fencing not only improves the appearance of your property but can also increase privacy and security.
I supply and install quality fencing that complements your home while standing up to the changing British weather.
From replacing old fence panels to installing complete new boundaries, I offer reliable fencing solutions tailored to your property and requirements.
My fencing services include:
Not every damaged fence needs replacing.
If your fencing has become unstable due to rotten, damaged or broken posts, I can replace individual fence posts and carry out professional repairs to restore its strength and appearance.
I’ll assess the condition of the existing fencing and recommend the most practical and cost-effective solution. Where a repair is suitable, I will not recommend a full replacement unnecessarily.
Choosing the right contractor is just as important as choosing the right materials.
My goal is to make the entire process straightforward and stress-free, providing honest advice and quality workmanship from beginning to end.
